Wishing on a New Moon is the story of three girls who go to Mississippi to visit Grandmama for the summer.  After dinner they are sitting on the back porch.  They notice the beautiful, clear night sky and they have questions that Grandmama can not answer.
They are very curious about a story that one of the girls had heard from one of her school mates and they decide to find out whether what she said  is true or false.
